Algernon for Squeak

Filed under: Uncategorized — Joey @ 2:41 am

This semester in Ralph Johnson’s Object Oriented Programming class, CS598rej, Erik and I wrote a cool program for Squeak called Algernon.

Algernon is a keyboard-based launcher that provides lightning quick access to categories, classes, morphs, and global variables in your image. It’s inspired by similar tools like Quicksilver and LaunchBar for Mac OS X. We’re really proud of it, as it seems to really increase productivity. If you’re a Squeak user, I encourage you to check it out.

P.S. That’s an amazing logo… where did you get it?

  3. Erik, someone purporting to be you emailed it to me. Perhaps an internet anomaly.

  4. Matt,
You see, Algernon is an intelligent mouse. A little intelligent buddy. Just like our app. An intelligent assistant to help you with your work. Squeak is mouse centric, and our little mouse helper makes the programming environment with the mouse logo, less so.

  5. Thanks a bunch for creating Algernon, its one of the most innovative things I’ve seen in the Squeak UI.
