Thank you Sesame Street, for the ringtone
Just when I thought I had the best ringtone on my phone, I created a new, better one to surpass it. I present you with the Yip Yip martians. Right out of Sesame Street. Instant classic.

I have implemented, with the help of Mr. Paul Nepywoda, the Facebook APA; Automated Poke Attack. It is now nearly impossible for Facebook to poke me and go un-repoked for more than 1 hour. The details are classified.
I collaborated intensively with Charlie Deets this morning and in to the afternoon, regarding the status of his ability to post pictures with WordPress 2.0. Unfortunately PHP safe mode imposes difficult restrictions that required great efforts in order to circumvent. Hopefully, upon his hosting company’s action upon a support ticket, operations will be restored to nominal state. I am eagerly awaiting an update.
Also, last night I went with John to see the UI Symphony Orchestra for Mozart’s birthday. It was excellent. It sure is fun to do things other than homework.
Anyway, its Saturday night, so I’ve got plenty of exciting things lined up–like reading for class– and–doing laundry and maybe even burning some DVD-Rs! er.. things lined up…
So WordPress 2.0 isn’t working out so well for my friend Charlie Deets, or myself. I am extremely impressed with the great strives they’ve made in code quality, but image upload is important for him, and I really need to have it stop filtering out tags i post via MarsEdit because of an XML-RPC bug. Those were two bugs that were important to NOT ship with.
I think I might go crazy this weekend and try to fix our problems by switching to a nightly-bulid version of WordPress. Version 2.0.1 is supposed to come out I think on Feb 16, but who has that much time to wait?
Look! I am famous, for sending an e-mail. Its grand to be famous. But not as famous as Sally who played an amazing show with a huge crowd on a Wednesday night last night at the Double Door….
Its also great when I have more posts mentioning my website and its infrastructure than not… I am most certainly a geek.
Today on my way to work I saw this dude strolling on to the quad with his boom box. Oh man was it classic, another guy near me was laughing just as I was due to the awesomeness, and early 90’s-ishness of it.

I just dropped my clock off with Stephanie Frankhauser at L&S Clock Repair[News Article] located at 410 S. Poplar in Urbana. I am sure they will be able to restore the clock to its full mechanical glory. She seemed extremely nice, but I did not get too much of a chance to chat as she was on the phone, and they had closed 10 minutes before I arrived– Stephanie said it would probably take 1.5 or two weeks, which I think is quite reasonable. She commented on how nice my clock was– and I was drastically flattered.
Oh the torture I must endure, now that I have found my perfect clock, it is sequestered from me for two weeks…
This weekend has been interesting and varied. I bought whole bunch of things, which I may or may not need– including a sheet of aluminum.
My Saturday night was spent primarily on cutting this aluminum in to a most useful widget. I now use this carefully crafted creation to keep my PowerBook from sliding off of its stand. It used to stay on there by itself, but clearly something has gone awry and it needs some help now. The method of jamming something between my keyboard and the laptop was getting clumsy, so I came up with this. It was really–interesting–cutting it with my Dremel, because I don’t have any tin snips around here, but I think it turned out well with those rounded corners!
Today at Espresso Royale I was reading a book, equipped with my earphones, upstairs in a comfy chair. Some people moved a table and sat unreasonably close to me, and I had the feeling they were like– talking about me– or something, but I could not tell because of the earphones. I was sure I was paranoid and continued my reading. When I got home I noticed my phone had “1 Missed Call” from 30 minutes prior, which means everyone around me had certainly been subjected to my loud (but awesome!) ringer for what had to be at least 30 seconds. Thanks everybody, for not letting me know my phone was ringing. Your loss for having to listen to it. The moral of the story is that the people around you are talking about you. Right behind your back.
As I sit here, and notice the wonderful fog outside, to distract me from my CS 273 homework, I think: “Man, if that fog were snow, I’d go out and play in the fog right now.”
Also, it is worth note that the SD500 digital camera records to MMC cards as well as SD– randomly I found that out this weekend…
I keep finding random bugs in MarsEdit and my Delkin Card Reader keeps malfunctioning. Its the driver, I know it is, and I can’t even force it to work:
joey% sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/CF32A.kext kextunload: unload kext /System/Library/Extensions/CF32A.kext failed
For example, I had to reboot my computer to get the pictures off of my SD card. MarsEdit is preventing me from deleting lines using ctrl-k, even though I can successfully delete the rest of the line with it… And there is something funny going on with window positions/sizes when it is located on my second display. Whatever MarsEdit. You’re still awesome.
Oh, and my TV is malfunctioning– but it is not it’s fault! The cable signal is screwed up (I can see this on my projector when watching tv too– its just not nearly as bad) TV looks like this:
How will I ever get by? Just kidding.
* it took like 3 edits just to get this right. Another WordPress/MarsEdit/XML-RPC bug…
Bugs Bugs Bugs…
Today I came upon this gruesome discovery in my refrigeration device. There must have been a malfunction:
It reminds me of the time Charlie Deets got shot in the leg. You should ask him about it.

So, I was standing outside, and then, all of a sudden it was like “bleep bleep bleep bleep bleeep” and this bus… had like….turned the corner…
in the spirit of Ellen Feiss, from back in the day…
Ok crazy beeping busses, so thats what that noise was– I swear I thought something was about to blow up.
I wrote more about this, but decided not to post it. Essentially, I think people should really pay attention when crossing the street–not rely on beeping busses…
It just took me at least 10 minutes to figure out how to type the Universal Quantifier and Existential Quantifier symbols in LaTeX. they’re \forall and \exists in case you were wondering. I’m really going to have to have to find some good learning resources if I really intend on using TeX for homework this semester…
